“Years teach us more than books” – Aristotle

When my parents decided to build a hotel in Oberlech half a century ago, it was a decision that would span the generations. Just like my grandparents before them, my parents lived the way they thought life should be lived. Vision, confidence in their own abilities, solidarity and courage have been the ingredients of this life through the years and decades. It partly explains the privileged position that our Hotel enjoys on the sunny terrace of Oberlech… time for contemplation…

If there is one thing that my parents have taught me, it is that everything takes its time. Sometimes it is very important to catch the right moment. In my youth, time was measured in hundredths and thousandths of a second; but my father taught us that wine in particular cannot be rushed and that an exquisite cuisine needs a very precise amount of time. And l experience with my children, experience with a great deal of delight and pride, how important it is to find time for them, to devote time to them, really find time for the family.

We have also invested a lot of time together to compile this brief history of our Montana-Oberlech Hotel; to explain why Montana had already existed before almost a century ago and how it came to be a part of those special moments that you enjoy in the year. Time to experience, time for reflection, time for smiling…

We also hope that you will be able to find a little of your time, perhaps over a fine glass of wine, to read this brochure. And if you can find some time for Oberlech, we will gladly find the time to welcome you here… until then, as we say around here – a guate Zeit!

Yours most sincerely, Kathrin und Patrick Ortlieb
with their family and all the staff at Hotel Montana-Oberlech!

50 Years of Hotel Montana Oberlech…
